Lannleire win again

LANNLEIRE WESTERNS 0-11 1-5

LANNLEIRE share top spot in Division 3 with their parish rivals St. Kevins following a fine win away to Westerns on Sunday.

Briain McGuinness got the away side’s opening score and they were on top for much of the high carving out a four-point cushion.

Westerns got a boost when a Tommy Durnin free fell short but was punched to the Lannleire net by Jack Ogle. However, Lannleire finished the half with three points, two from Colin Murphy and one from Killian Gregory, going in at the break leading 0-9 to 1-2

Tommy Durnin pointed a free for Westerns five minutes into the second half but a Colin Murphy free on 37 minutes kept the gap at four points. A further Tommy Durnin free on 39 minutes did reduce the deficit to three points. A strong and determined Lannleire side prevented Westerns adding to their second half tally until Tommy Durnin pointed one minute from full time but by that stage Lannleire captain, Paul Callan had made the points safe for his team with his second score from play on 56 minutes.
