John Mitchel’s Juveniles held their Flag Day last Saturday in Ardee. We thank everyone who supported our collectors as all monies raised go back into our club and Juvenile activities.

There will be a Foundation Coaching Course held in the Mitchel’s clubrooms on May 12th. This will be one of the last held in Louth this year for GAA purposes, so it is essential that anyone who needs to attend does so. If you would like to attend contact 0876962295 to confirm your place.

Our senior men’s team are training hard but came out on wrong side of the scoreline against St Kevin’s. They are out again in the league against Na Piarsaigh next Sunday away at 3pm - all support welcome. In the Division 6 League we are at home against Dunleer on Thursday evening.

NAOMH FIONNBARRA

THERE was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. and St. Anne’s Camogie Club Lotto draw held on Wednesday 11th April. The winning numbers were 4, 8, 10, & 22. There was 1 match 3 winner Angie Mulroy, Dunleer who won €150. Next weeks jackpot stays at €10,000. NAOMH Fionnbarra Intermedia­te team recorded a good 3-10(19) to 2-8(14) win over Glen Emmets at John Markey Park on Sunday to pick up their first points in thew Division 2 League, well done lads. The juniors face Sean O’Mahonys this Tuesday 17th April at John Markey Park at 7pm and the seniors take on St. Fechins on Sunday at 3pm in Termonfeck­in.

The Ladies also picked up their first league point with a 4-8(20) to 4-8(20) draw against St. Patrick’s Ladies in Lordship, well done girls.

The ladies hosted a clothes collection at the clubrooms at John Markey Park on April 13th & 14th. The collection was very successful and thank you to everyone who donated clothes.

Very exciting year ahead for our U14/U13 team as the John West Féile Peile na nÓg 2018 tournament is being hosted by Down, Louth & Meath on the weekend of Friday 29th June – Sunday 1st July 2018 and our Club along with Lannleire will be hosting teams and games in our Parish watch out for further details soon .

The exercise track at the pitch is open for use, so feel free to come along and do your walking in safe surroundin­gs. There is a social membership fee of €25 to cover the cost of insurance, which can be paid to any committee member. You will then be issued with a membership card, all those who are contributi­ng to Club Barrs or already have membership paid are covered. We welcome everyone to come along and enjoy the facilities.

Supporters of the club can buy club gear directly from the O’Neills Website. There are some new items available online.

Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. are hosting a Kellogs GAA Cúl Football and Hurling Camp again this year from Monday 30th July to Friday 3rd August. Online booking commences on 1st March.

O RAGHALLAIG­H’S

OUR Senior Men’s team continue their 2018 League campaign on Sunday 22nd April away from home against St Josephs. Throw in is at 3.00pm. All support welcome. Our Junior 2B team will play Dreadnots at home this coming Thursday. Throw in is at 7.00pm. Our U18 team play St Nicholas next Monday, 23rd April, away from home. Throw in is at 7.00pm. Our U14 team face off against St Nicholas this Wednesday at home. Throw in is at 7.00pm. Our U12 team will play against St Kevins at home on Friday. Throw in is at 7.00pm.

There was a great start to our academy on Saturday, with 23 young gaels taking part. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next Saturday at 11 am. New members always welcome to come along and take part.

Training for all age groups continues as normal next week. Remember that gum shields are mandatory for both training and matches.

OUR very successful academy is back every Saturday morning until August. The cost per child is €30 (2nd sibling €20 and 3rd sibling €10).

It takes place on the Astro pitch every Saturday from 10-11am and will help develop movement and motor skills for boys and girls aged three to six. The skills form the basis for the later developmen­t of the specific skills of hurling and Gaelic football. For more informatio­n contact David on 087-8562836.

We are working closely with Wolfe Tones GFC who have been selected to run a Gaelic 4 Girls programme, one of only 10 clubs in Leinster chosen! The programme is aimed at girls aged eight to 12 who have never played Gaelic before and aims to give them all the basic skills they need to integrate into Gaelic football.

The programme started last Wednesday and will run for eight weeks from 7 to 8pm on Wednesdays. All participan­ts will receive an official LGFA Gaelic for girls training t-shirt and will be eligible to play in a provincial blitz on June 16th.

WOLFE TONES

There was a good win this week for U14s against Clan na nGael, but our U15 and U12 ladies lost to St Colmcilles and St Kevins.

Gaelic 4 Girls was launched on Wednesday 11th April and was a huge success with over 40 girls new to football attending. We have seven weeks left of the programme. It’s not too late! Come along and registrar next Wednesday and join the fun!!
