O’Brien brace seals Hawks victory

DROGHEDA Town Hawks Under-12s made light of wet and windy conditions as they took on Boyne Rovers Yellow in the first local derby of the season at the weekend.

With both sides looking for a win, it was a goal from Shane Downey that put Drogheda Town

in the lead heading for the break.

Boyne Rovers came out fighting early in the second half and went close on several occasions, but Hawks then took control when an incisive pass from Ultan McLoughlin allowed Jamie O’Brien hit the back of the net for 2-0.

Boyne Rovers did their best to fight back, but a second goal from O’Brien sealed the deal for the home team.
