Team members received their scorecards and a goodie bag sponsored by McGuirks Golf, Dunnes Stores Southgate and Lynch Fruit & Veg Dunleer, spirits were high and many students were there to support the teams.

First to tee off were four Sacred Heart pupils, namely Carenza Rock (head girl), Bronagh James, Áine McMahon and Ellen Cooney, and this team was kindly sponsored by the McCullen family.

It was a cold, wet and windy start to the day, but all the golfers were treated to warm soup and snacks at the 12th hole and the sun came out in the afternoon.

PUNTER’S SOCIETY

THE society held its second outing of the year at Corballis golf club in Dublin on Wednesday 11th April.

Weather-wise it was still cold for this time of the year and windy as you would expect with most links courses. It was hard work as a lot of the holes are blind so if you don’t know the layout of the course you could easily get into trouble. Having said that the greens were superb and very challenging.

18 members took to the tee at the start of play and the overall winner on the day was Ken Larkin with a score of 33 points after a countback. In category one the overall winner was Paul Hughes with a score of 33 points also.

Second was Eamonn O’Farrell on 31 points with Chris Murden third on 30 points. In category two the overall winner was Peter Monaghan on 29 points. Second was Tony Casey on 28 points with Noel McGill third on 26 points.

Prizes were presented by Captain Micky Noone in The Punters Bar afterwards in the evening.

Our thanks to all the players who participated and also to the bar staff on the night. Next outing is in St. Margarets GC on Monday 7th May tee off 12.30. Look forward to seeing as many members there as possible and new members are always welcome. FORE!
