Our Get into Golf ladies had a recent get together in the clubhouse. A lot of enthusiasm was shown for future plans outlined by Kay McCartan who is spear-heading the project.

April 8th/9th Stroke Medal competitio­n: 1st Patricia McAllister 76, 2nd Eleanor Metcalfe 78 ob9. Nine-hole winner Margaret County Louth club player shot a first-round 78 to leave herself joint third, three shots behind her rival Paula Grant, but while the other leading players struggled in round two Smith was one of the few who improved her score.

LUMPER’S SOCIETY

THE society got the season up and running with Captain Donal O’Hagan’s drive-in at Greenore Golf Club on Saturday, April 7th.

A large group gathered around the first tee box at 10 o’clock to watch the Captain tee off to warm applause from the group in attendance.

The format on the day was singles stableford, with the prizes on offer kindly sponsored by Londis Crillys Shop.

A number of golfers managed to put together very good scores, with leading five score cards separated only by three stableford points.

At the top of this group though and with an excellent score of 37 pts. Thomas Dullaghan returned the winning score card on the day. In achieving this feat.

Thomas goes straight to the top of the leader-board in the Golfer of the Year Competitio­n, setting down a clear marker that he intends to make a serious challenge for this much sought-after trophy during 2018.

Following the round, the golfers enjoyed a meal and refreshmen­ts in the clubhouse.

During the presentati­on of prizes, Captain, Donal thanked the members for attending his Drive-In, the council and members of Greenore for the use of their facilities and caterer, Doreen for providing a delicious meal.

LAST weekend’s club competitio­n was an 18 nett and the Grade 1 winner was Tommy Dyas with a score of 44 nett (h/c-3). Grade 2 was won by Liam Flood with a score of 46 nett (h/c -7).

The club competitio­n this week will be an 18 gross. Times of play are Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 10am.

There was no winner of the most recent club lotto draw, which took place last Wednesday. The winning numbers were 6, 8, 13, & 20. The lucky dip winners were Michelle Dykstra, Diarmuid Devin Health and Ray McKenna. The next draw will take place on Tuesday 24th when the jackpot prize will be €3,050.
