Special

I’M not one who usually gets excited about Champions League football but last weeks quarter final second leg games on Tuesday and Wednesday night were something special.

I thought all the drama would be at the Etihad Stadium where Liverpool were defending a 3-0 lead against Man City. It was an excellent first half with City taking a first minute lead and camped in Liverpool territory. But Mo Salah struck again and Liverpool where home and hosed.

It was in Rome where all the excitement unfolded as tournament favourites Barcelona incredibly crashed out of the competition after relinquishing a 4-1 first leg advantage. Roma won 3-0 on the night to progress on the away goals rule and the Italian crowd went crazy.

The following evening Real Madrid travelled to Turin for what appeared to be a mere formality after their 3-0 first leg victory. Juventus looked a spent force at the Bernabeu and I was only tuning in to see if Ronaldo would produce another piece of magic.

Amazingly Juventus almost pulled off
