Drogheda’s Open Air Market takes place every Saturday morning in Bolton Square and Bolton St from 7.am to 2pm

The market offers freshly grown farm produce, Fresh cakes and bread, vegetables, Fruit, flowers, plants, clothing, hardware,homewares, toys, jewellery and fancy goods on a wide range of open air stalls

There is currently space for anyone who might be interested in taking up a regular stall, or car boot, the cost is €10 per pitch payable to the Market official every saturday. This would be a great opportunit­y for anyone who wants to sell their craft and is looking for an outlet for their products.

LATE MAURA VAUGHEY

Sympathy is extended to the Vaughey following the death of Maura (née Finnegan) at Our Lady’s Hospital Navan. Maura is survived by her sons Sean, Breen and Aidan, daughter Mary, brothers John and Donal, sisters Jean, Betty, Imelda and Kay, son-in-law Fergus, daughter-in-law Maggie, grandchild­ren Karl, Claire, Katie and David, relatives and friends. Maura’s funeral Mass took place in St Patrick’s Church, Slane on Saturday with burial afterwards in St Erc’s Cemetery.

GAA FOR GIRLS

Slane GFC has started a new programme to introduce girls to basic exercise, movement and balance, and in coaching the basic skills of football - catch, kick solo etc. The coaching will be in a fun environmen­t with the emphasis on enjoyment mixed with exercise. The programme is aimed at girls aged between seven and 10 years - girls born in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Sessions are each Thursday at Slane GFC pitch from 7 pm to 7.45.

SLANE CFR

Slane Community First Responders along with the National Ambulance Service are hosting an informatio­n night at Slane National School this Tuesday evening, April 17th at 7.30pm. RESTORATIV­E YOGA

Welcome in Spring with some Restorativ­e Yoga at Ananda Centre, Slane, on Saturday, April 28th at 10am. Workshop is two hours and costs €25. Suitable for all.

Confirmati­on in Slane parish takes place on Thursday, April 26th at 3pm. First Holy Communion is on Saturday, May 19th at 11am. Blessing of the Graves is in Monknewtow­n, Dowth and Fennor on Sunday May 20th, and on the Hill of Slane and St Erc’s cemetery on Sunday May 27th.

SOSAD CYCLE

Slane Spinners are gearing themselves up for the big 10th anniversar­y SOSAD Cycle which will be hosted by the club. It takes place on Sunday, May 13th, and this year the cycle will start and finish at Stackallen Pitch & Putt premises where there is ample facilities for parking cars etc. The signing in fee is €20 for the 105km or 50km fun run. Sign in at 8am, start at 9.30am sharp. Helmets compulsory, soup and sandwiches on return. Online check in at eventmaste­r.ie

SLANE CASTLE 5K

This years Slane Castle 5k trail run/walk in aid of St Patrick’s national school takes place on Sunday, June 10th. Full details to follow.

BLOOD CLINIC

The Irish Blood Transfusio­n Service are holding a blood donor clinic in Scoil Naomh Eoin, Navan, from Monday, April 23rd to Thursday, April 26th from 5pm to 8.30pm each day.
