CONGRATS ST. PATRICK’S.

Congratulations to St. Patrcks NS students Daniel Culligan, Ciaran Devine, Maeve Duggan and Mathew McAloon who took part in the National Final of the Credit Union Schools Quiz in the RDS last Sunday. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be their day but they can be proud of their achievement in reaching the final of a competition which started off with 25,000 children. Well done.

LOUGH DERG.

Want to take a pit stop from the hectic pace of modern day life, a momentary step from the Ferris Wheel, before we all get dizzy? Who wouldn’t? Especially, when the step is onto a patch of tranquillity that has few equals.

I speak of, of course, Lough Derg and the good news is that a One Day Retreat will leave from our parish on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7th.

Interested parties should ring Mary McGuire on 0864032364/ 0416851754 or Rose Duff on 0868458808/0419822504 as soon as possible, as places are limited and demand is high.

TIDY TOWNS.

Busy times ahead for Mr. Wood’s 6th Class in St. Buites National School in Tenure. They are taking part in this years ECOTribes project. Run in conjunction with the The Heritage Council & Louth Tidy Towns Together, schools sign up to develop a project over a number of weeks with the help of their local Tidy Towns Group. This years theme is “Pollinator Friendly Planting”. Eileen and Oonagh from Monasterboice Tourism and Tidy Towns Group recently visited the school with Nikita Coulter of the Heritage Council who gave a presentation on the importance of pollination and the benefits for us and the environment. You may remember last year Harestown N.S. won a Gold Medal for their ‘Celtic Garden’ project in Drumshallon Forge. It’s fantastic to see our local schools getting involved in such projects - Best of luck everyone!
