Julianstown parents facing action
PARENTS who park on the footpath and block the road outside Whitecross National School in Julianstown are facing the wrath of the law.
It being proposed that ‘enforcement’ of the parking laws will begin at the school after it was revealed there is ‘ample parking’ in the nearby church car park.
Acting on complaints, Meath Road Safety Officer Michael Finnegan says that action is needed.
‘ There were problems and I went to the parish priest and asked could the church car park be used for the school traffic and he agreed,’ he told a meeting of the area council.
A route into the school from the car park was also developed, meaning nobody had to walk on the paths or road.
But many parents are now ignoring the opportunity, saying it takes too long to get out of the car park.
‘ They are blocking the footpath and there is going to have to be enforcement,’ he said. ‘A school warden would create even more problems here.’
