St Mary’s DS pupils organise charity event

-

150 STUDENTS from St Mary’s Diocesan School are to take part in a 16-team soccer fundraiser for a series of local charities.

Ther CSPE Action Project involves 2nd year students and the idea is that all students will be given a sponsorship card and it is proposed each student will collect €20 on their card. €3000 is the overall target.

Each of the teams will represent 16 nominated charities/ organisations and the team who wins outright ( representing their charity), is hoped will take half the pot, €1,500, if the target figure is met. Each of the remaining teams will hopefully take off €100 for their charity.

At the end of the day, all organisations/charities are winners.

The students will be out and about in the coming weeks seeking your support for the competition.

The event will take place at St.Mary’s D.S playing fields at Meadow View, on May 22nd, with the final that afternoon.

It’s hoped the event will be run off inside six hours.

The nominated charities are, Gary Kelly Cancer Centre, SVP, SOSAD, Holy Family school for the Deaf, Trocaire, Garda Benevolent Fund, Asthma Society, Alzheimer’s society, Abacus centre, Tiny Hearts Foundation, Animal Shelter Collon, Arthritis Ireland, Drogheda River Rescue, Down Syndrome Ireland, Homeless Shelter Drogheda and Bumbleance.
