Volunteers are needed for the 2018 Maritime festival
ORGANISERS are looking for volunteers to help out with the Irish Maritime Festival, taking place on 16-17th June.
The Festival, in association with Virgin Media, is a huge riverside festival at Drogheda Port. Over 40,000 visitors attend the two-day event each year.
“Our volunteer team are the lifeblood of the Irish Maritime Festival, we couldn’t do it without them. They are the face of the Festival, greeting guests on arrival, helping parents and children to discover all the fun of the Festival and making sure people stay safe. Lots of our volunteers come back year after year because they enjoy it so much,’ volunteer co-ordinator Karen Devine stated.
“The Irish Maritime Festival is a great opportunity to get involved in volunteering” continues Gráinne Berrill, Louth Volunteer Centre manager.
“Often people come to us saying that they would like to try volunteering but don’t know where to start. We always tell them that volunteering at events, such as the Irish Maritime Festival in June, is a great way to try it out.”
Volunteers give a minimum of 4 hours over the weekend, but many volunteer for more because they love being part of the team for the full weekend.

‘We’d love to hear from you. You’ll be invited to a volunteer briefing to learn all about the event and to meet the team. We’re really looking forward to meeting lots of new volunteers for the Irish Maritime Festival 2018.”
