Great paint job

-

I CAME across a piece on Peter McEvoy and what a life he had.

He passed away in 1963 at the age of 77, but not before he enjoyed his time on this death.

He ran a a successful bacon business at Narrow West Street at one stage, but he was an outstanding tenor.

He travelled on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary and was asked by the captain to sing at ship concerts. He also sang at Carnegie Hall in New York.

He was part of the Brass and Reed Band and loved Co Louth Golf Club, the official starter for the East of Ireland on many occasions. On those big days for the club, he wore an immaculate white suit. I HAVE heard nothing but great reports about the painting job done on West Gate House at the junction with Narrow West Street and the Bridge of Peace.

As you arrive at the top of George’s Street and look down towards the Boyne, ‘Smyth’s Select Accommodation’ looks magnificent.

The thing is - it looks so good, we will have people calling to the front door looking for a room for the night! - but that’s an issue for another day.

The former youth office beside it also looks great after a refurbishment job.

This ‘double’ project is warmly welcomed
