School’s county title

-

THE boys from Realt na Mara NS of Donacarney are among six Meath schools to advance to this Thursday’s North Leinster Finals at the FAI Schools Five-a-Side tournament after success in last week’s county competition.

In what was a first-ever Meath title for Realt na Mara NS they topped Section C for large schools, which included St Colmcille’s BNS Kells, St Joseph’s Mercy Navan and eventual runners-up Whitecross NS Julianstown.

Making the presentations on the day was Drogheda United manager Tim Clancy, himself an All-Ireland winner in this competition with St Michael’s Trim back in 1996.

Assessing the Realt na Mara team, keeper Oisín Brennan was commanding and didn’t conceded a goal in the qualifying rounds. In defence Cormac O’Donoghue and Charlie Bacon were very consistent, while Davin O’Connor, Calem Tunstead and David Murphy were skilful and well organised in midfield. David Murphy was clinical in his finishing, with two classy strikes against St Joseph’s.

Jake Hough and Conor Brennan were scintillating in attack.
