Gold and silver for Amy

-

AMY McTeggart did Drogheda and her club Boyne AC proud when landing gold and silver medals at the Irish Universities Track & Field Championships at the famous Mary Peters track in Belfast.

Representing Athlone IT, she set the bar high for herself with a fine second-place finish in the Women’s long jump, finishing just 3cm behind the winning jump with a best of 5.58m.

Going on recent form, Amy was tipped for a podium place in the high jump and clearing her first two heights on the first attempt proved crucial as the two leaders both cleared 1.65m on their third attempt.

A failure by her fellow competitor on her opening jump, meant that gold went to McTeggart on countback.

•The Boyne AC committee, coaches, athletes and their families would like to thank all the athletics clubs, other sporting clubs and individuals across the county and beyond for their messages of condolence following the sad passing of Killian Ekhator.
