FADED ROAD MARKINGS COULD BE WORSE

According to the last issue of the D.I there are many areas in Drogheda where road markings are very faded. Now take the road markings on the Mill road in Mornington. There are none except for thirty meters at the beginning and end. The only other marking in this area are the marks in the ditches where cars have been pulled out of. This road was resurfaced at least 3 to 4 years ago and still not a lick of paint to be seen. But to be fair Meath County Council may have invisible paint inadvertently.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE MAY BUSHES GONE?

The adorning of gate posts on May Day with the May bush in east Meath has become practically non-existent. Going back in time every gate post was dressed with May bush and other flowers in honour of Mary the Queen of May. Apart from

East Meath, I am sure that this custom is still carried out in other villages and other towns. Hats off to Broomfield residents who are having a competition for the most attractive gate post dressing. It seems to be that the further one travels from the east coast the greater chance of seeing this custom is still carried out.
