Entire region will benefit from inward investment
IN welcoming the job announcements for the Donore Road facility, Louth Deputy Fergus O’Dowd says the whole region will benefit from investment such as this.
‘A further 50 new jobs, along with the 70 that have been announced for Drogheda here, will be created for its operations in Stamullen, which will hugely benefit the people and the economy of the town,’ said Deputy O’Dowd.
‘We need to reduce the commute from our towns and communities and the addition of high skilled jobs will provide that.
‘ This announcement shows we are making progress and building on the plans outlined for Drogheda in the Ireland 2040 plan as a centre for population and growth.
He said Co. Louth has been recognised as playing a key role in Ireland’s future development, and continued investment from international and multinational companies builds on this recognition.
‘With Fine Gael in Government, unemployment has hit its lowest level in a decade, with the Live Register in County Louth reducing by over 15% in the last year alone,’ he told the Drogheda Independent at the plant launch.
‘ The Government is working hard to continue to get Ireland working and attracting further investment from innovative industry leaders like PCI is key to delivering more and better, sustainable jobs for the years ahead.’
Deputy O’Dowd was one of several local public representatives to attend the job announcement at the new stateof-the-art facility on the Donore Road last Wednesday.
