IWA to make Fleadh wheelchair-friendly

-

STAFF at the Drogheda branch of the IWA are working closely with Louth County Council and the organising committee for the forthcoming Fleadh Cheoil to ensure that Drogheda is a wheelchair and disability-friendly town ahead of the week-long festival.

Nicola McDonnell and Claire McLoughlin from the centre have met with the committee, as well as Director of Services at Louth County Council,Paddy Donnelly, and Olivia Shiels of DisAbility Louth to check the town is ready to be inclusive to all visitors in August.

“I contacted them because I was really afraid it would be left to the last minute to make any arrangements needed before we have so many visitors,” explains Nicola.

“There will be a large area on the North Quay and because our centre is close-by, they wanted to see if we could be used for changing or toilet facilities.”
