EAST Meath United welcomed all of the athletes from Eastern Region Special Olympics Ireland to Ministown for Day 4 of the Special Olympics Football Blitz.

Teams from Dundrum, United Warriors, Cheeverstown, Magpies, Speisialta Braves & Sports Club had a busy day of soccer & what a spectacular show it was.

No yellows or reds, though a tackle or two with spectacular goals that would go down well in the Premier League or Match of the day. A day of great sportsmanship was shown by all and welcoming to see.

Chairwoman of EMU, and local Fine Gael Councillor, Sharon Tolan said “this is a proud day for our club to open our facilities to Special Olympics Ireland. Following on from the introduction of our Football For All Programme, we were delighted to be in a position to showcase the skills of the Eastern Region teams of SOI at our club grounds in Ministown. It is so important that we do all we can to ensure inclusion for all in sport and in every walk of life, and at East Meath Utd FC we are really enjoying the experience.”
