Orlaith’s new book on living with loss

-

COMMUNICATIONS specialist and author Orlaith Carmody has launched her second book, Without You, Living with Loss. (Ballpoint Press).

The new book is an intimate collection of letters to loved ones who have passed away. Proceeds from the book will go directly to Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold’s Cross and Blackrock Hospice.

The book aims to provide comfort and solace to anyone who has experienced a bereavement, or who is about to face one. By encouraging conversations about loss, Orlaith and the book’s other contributors hope their letters will provide comfort and inspiration.

The heart-warming book includes letters from an array of well-known people from the media, arts, business, music, sport and politics who have generously contributed their most intimate thoughts and feelings in the interest of supporting others.

Explaining her inspiration for Without You, Living with Loss, Orlaith Carmody said: “Grief is something that we will all encounter at some point in our lives, as it has been a part of my life for many years. But even though it affects us all, it occurred to me how little we talk the subject. I set out with the idea of starting the conversations we need to have, and also to support the work of the Hospice”

Launching the book Minister for Culture and the Gaeltacht Josepha Madigan, one of the contributors to the book, said: “Without You - Living with Loss shares with the reader an insight into how we all cope with grief. The personal letters demonstrate beautifully how loved ones are still cherished in our daily lives and are still part of who we are.’’

The book was officially launched at an event in Dubray Books in Dublin. Without You, Living with Loss retails at €15
