Millmount hosts a traditional country fair on Sunday next
A TRADITIONAL country village fair will take place at Millmount on Sunday May 6th as part of the Drogheda Arts Festival 2018.
It will take you back to the old days and old ways with the scent, sights and sounds of yesteryear. Entertainment for all the family including;
Traditional Old Traveller Crafts presented by the Meath Travellers Workshop, titled `A Living History`.
This great exhibition will include Tin-Smiting, Barrel-Wagon and Cart-Making; the method of making the old roadside tents, complete with the old turf-fire, Wheelwrights, Blacksmith/Farrier, old Stories, music/song and a photographic exhibition.
The Village Fair within the Courtyard at Millmount will also feature Pony & Trap short tours around the Millmount/ Platin Road area, Traditional Irish Music, Singing and Dancing on the `Village Green` .
A Lone-Piper will perform his magic within the old Museum Kitchen amidst the artefacts of yesteryear, while an indoor Exhibition on Traditional Music with local connections will be hosted within the Museum.
There’s also Art & Crafts, Face-Painting & Balloons & Ice- Cream Stand etc.
The Old Village Stocks/Pillory, cannon-firing, Food & Flower Stalls, etc. throughout the afternoon from 2pm until 6pm.
Free entry to courtyard activities and the Drogheda Museum throughout the day.
Fechin’s table quiz
A table quiz in aid of St Fechin’s GFC takes place on Friday 4 May at 9pm in Keogh’s bar, Ballymakenny, Drogheda. Questions will be posed on tv, films, sport, current affairs, etc with great prizes for winning teams. Table of 4 costs €40. Raffle will also take place on the night. All welcome to take part!
