OBE winner Melissa Stodart Hull was born on Trinity St

-

I WONDER are there any members of the Hull family still around town.

I’d love to know more about Melissa Stodart (Millie) Hull, who was presented with an OBE from the queen.

She was born in 1881 in Drogheda and was the daughter of John Millar Hull, who was the manager of the West Gate Weaving Mill. He left to become Managing Director of Tobacco Plantations Ltd, Beaumont, Natal, South Africa. He was from Dungiven.

They lived at 15 Trinity Street. Melissa would go on to become Professor of Linguistics at the University of Brazil and passed away at the age of 89 in Dorset, England.

There were other members of the family born in Drogheda, Frederick George Hull (1888–1965), William Whitworth ( Whit) Hull (1886–1948), Annie Ogilvie Hull (1885–1952) and Samuel Millar Hull (1883–1956)
