LANNLEIRE WOLFE TONES 1-10 0-11

LANNLEIRE maintained their winning run in Division 3 at Pairc Ui Mhuiri on Sunday.

Wolfe Tones started the game in fine style and led 0-5 to 0-2 after just 12 minutes of play, but an Alan Murphy penalty got Lannleire back into the game and they led by 1-6 to 0-7 at the break.

Home supporters were made remain tense throughout the second half as Lannleire were unable to put any significant breathing space between themselves and their opponents. Two early points from Alan Murphy were quickly cancelled with two scores for Tones. Lannleire passed up a couple of scoring opportunities before an Alan Murphy free on 50 minutes left them leading 1-9 to 0-9.

Wolfe Tones brought it back to a two point game with a score on 53 minutes but Bob Murphy restored the home side’s lead to three with five minutes to play. Wolfe Tones did try their best to breach the Lannleire rearguard in the final minutes but their only consolation was a Gideon Lugoye pointed free as Lannleire held out to win.
