KILKERLEY EMMETS OLIVER PLUNKETTS 0-14 1-8

KILKERLEY Emmets made it three wins on the bounce as they defeated Oliver Plunketts by three points to keep the pressure on the Division 2 League leaders.

The game in Kilkerley on Friday night saw the hosts open the scoring through Shane Lennon only for Cian Matthews to level soon after. Ronan Mulholland and Trevor Walsh then traded scores before Tadhg McEneaney and Conor Early did likewise to see the teams level at 0-3 each.

However, Kilkerley had the edge in the closing stages of the half and scores from McEneaney, Sean Hand and Cillian Kampes in reply to an Andy Morgan point had the Emmets leading by 0-6 to 0-4 at half time.

The hosts took 15 minutes of the second half to add to their tally but the enjoyed a good spell in the final quarter as they added eight points with McEneaney, Daniel McKeown and Lennon on target.

The Plunketts pointed through Luke Haggins and Cian Brady and although Cillian Matthews hit a late goal it wasn’t enough to prevent Kilkerley from claiming a deserved victory.
