Side road blocked by brazen fly-tipping

-

RESIDENTS of a small road outside Drogheda are furious at what they have described as ‘ brazen and audacious dumping’ which has been taking place near their homes.

In the latest incident, the road was actually blocked by a large pile of household and domestic waste, which appeared to be dumped off the back of a truck onto their laneway.

Motorists trying to enter the Beamore Road from the lane had to cross to the other side of the road to get around the heap.

“I have seen mattresses and other large items dumped by the side of the road before but never fly-tipping to this extent before,” said one resident, who said they would prefer not to be identified.

“This latest incident is the most brazen and audacious any of us has seen, and we hope it won’t continue.’

The load was dumped sometime on Saturday night or Sunday morning, and was still there some 48 hours later.

“This is a main route to many houses here,” adds the resident. “I am sure if Meath County Council were to carry out an investigation, there would be some way to identify who did this and fining them heavily would be the best way to deter them and others from doing the same.”
