First Skillnet courses for local businesses launched

-

M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet has launched its first tranche of training courses that will enable local companies across the North East to access subsidised training based on their specific needs.

The first four courses from the newly established Skillnet are taking place in May, and include GDPR, Office 365, Delighting Your Customer, and Effective Performance Management.

“The courses are based on the immediate needs of local companies based on direct feedback,” says Linda Ennis, Manager of the M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet.

“For instance, it’s critical that companies from sole traders to multinationals are aware of the new GDPR legislation coming into force on May 25th and start planning for how it will affect their business.”.

Shona McManus, CEO of Osborne Recruitment is a member of the Steering group and Network Promoter of the new Skillnet group and has already seen the benefit of the Skillnet programme via the National Recruitment Federation Skillnet.

“Drogheda Chamber has successfully applied for funding to support companies along the M1, and the Skillnet is a game-changer for the region,” she tells the Drogheda Independent.

Regional companies will no longer have to go to Dublin to attain relevant accredited training and will also see their training costs decrease.”

M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet is multi-sectoral and will support training across all areas including retail, professional services, technology and tourism. The training in May includes a full day’s ‘Delighting Your Customer’ course which is particularly relevant as Drogheda prepares for Fleadh Ceoil”.

M1-Drogheda Chamber Skillnet was established to enable local companies across the NorthEast to access subsidised training based on their specific needs.

The M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet is co-funded by Skillnet Ireland and member companies, which is funded from the National Training Fund through the Department of Education and Skills.

It funds over 50 industry representative groups, supporting over 15,000 companies and 50,000 trainees annually. M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet is currently assessing potential future courses and welcomes feedback from regional companies on their training needs.
