Your chance to play your part during Volunteering Week in Louth
MARIA Walsh – former Rose of Tralee, presenter and entrepreneur – was on hand to launch this year’s National Volunteering Week campaign,
According to a new survey by Volunteer Ireland, 67% of people who volunteered felt an increased sense of belonging to their community and 70% felt it gave them an increased sense of being included and not being alone.
Gráinne Berrill, Louth Volunteer Centre Manager singled out this link between volunteering and connected communities as the focus of this year’s campaign. “Volunteering builds better communities – it really is as simple as that. From local Tidy Towns groups to Community First Responders and the parents coaching their children’s sports teams – coming together to give back makes a community stronger. When people volunteer they feel closer to their community and the people in it, and they take pride in their community.”
Louth Volunteer Centre work closely with community organi- sations all across County Louth and will be holding a Build Better… Volunteer Leadership Seminar in Bellingham Castle on Wednesday 16th May.
Tickets are free but booking with the Louth Volunteer Centre team is essential. They are also encouraging everyone to think about how they can get involved in their local community this National Volunteering Week (14th – 20th May).
They are holding coffee mornings in their office in Bolton Street, Drogheda from 11am – 1pm on Thursday 17th for the public to drop in and find out about volunteering in their local area.
According to Gráinne there is something for everyone.

Healing mass in the Augustinian
A healing Mass will be celebrated in the Augustinian Church, Drogheda, at 7.3pm on Monday 14th May 2018.
The Mass is run by the Drogheda Community Drugs & Alcohol Forum in conjunction with the Holy Family Prayer Group.
It is for anyone and their families suffering from addiction or any illness. There will be anointing of the sick on the night. The celebrant is Fr. Tom Hogan. Light refreshments will be served.
