Song for the Fleadh

-

A competition to select a song for the Fleadh is gaining momentum, according to organiser Cllr Frank Godfrey.

So far a half a dozen songs have been submitted, mainly from local songwriters, with titles like ‘Beautiful Drogheda’, ‘ My Old Walled Town’ and ‘ Up for the Fleadh!’.

‘ There are a number of musicians working on songs currently, I believe,’ said Cllr Godfrey, who is well known for his own singsong talents! ‘I’m still hopeful that more songs will be submitted, so get the entries in!’

The song should reflect the life and heritage of the town, as well as the historic occasion of the Fleadh being held in the town for the first time. The iconic song should embrace the history, the heritage, the people, the Boyne and the Fleadh. Contact Cllr Godfrey for more info.
