Same picture - only it’s a few decades apart!
AT the start of the 2017/18 soccer season, we ran the picture above (left) of a young lad - well, two young lads - one being Alan Murphy, then of Drogheda United.
He was a real star of the side, an all action player and of course when awards shows came around, he was needed to do presentations.
On this occasion, he presented a cup to Paddy O’Boyle, a promising kid.
Fast forward about two decades and it’s the side of the pitch in Bellurgan.
Newfoundwell FC have just won the Premier Division title in the NECL and side by side are Murphy and O’Boyle again and photographer Larry McQuillan was on hand to capture the moment.
This time they were team mates on a side that was simply awesome this season.
And Murphy can still move!
