GAEIL COLMCILLE ST COLMCILLE’S 3-11 0-6

UNDERSTRENGTH St Colmcille’s were no match for their hosts in this Division 1 league tie at Grangegodden last Saturday.

The seasiders only managed three points in each half and had no answer to the Kells side full forward Seamus Mattimoe who ended with a personal tally of 2-5.

Brian O’Hanlon struck for the winners’ opening goal and at half-time they led 1-6 to 0-3.

Lar Wall’s side completely dominated the second half, but they had to wait until the 40th minute to add to their goal tally, with Mattimoe on the mark. Mattimoe struck for his second goal 10 minutes from the finish.

The win leaves the Kells men in second position, just two points behind leaders Skryne, while St Colmcille’s are still perilously close to the bottom.
