Boyne athletes produce goods

-

THE road racing season is certainly in full swing, with a multitude of races across the county to choose from, and ahead of the Boyne 10K the equivalent Dundalk race was first on the calendar for Boyne AC’s senior athletes.

Weeks of following their training plan proved fruitful for the 12 athletes who ran, with many crossing the line in new PB times on a tough and at times windy route.

Sally Clarke ran an impressive 43:56, finishing second lady in her category, while Paul Kirwan was delighted with his 46:14 having only recently completed the Manchester Marathon.

Nicola Veale ran well to finish in 50:39 and is determined to get under the 50-minute mark in her next race, with Timi Oluwabowale not far behind in 51:29.

Karen Fairclough was all smiles as she crossed the line in 54:02, with Rebecca Carolan and Eimear Rickard clocking 54:45 and Mairead Hallinan just behind in 54:46, delighted to get under the 55-minute mark for the first time.

Jillian Connor was happy with her 54:38, as was Ola Raji who crossed the line in 57.23, while Jacqueline Reid had a good run to finish in 1:04:03.

Also in action recently in the KBC Dublin Night Run were Rebecca Carolan - who finished in 44:28 - followed by Karen Fairclough in 53:57, Eimear Rickard 54:14, Jillian Connor 55:25 and Gabbie White 56:35.
