Greene storms to victory

DUNLEER AC had a Sunday to remember when proving dominant in the men’s and ladies races at the Boyne 10K in Drogheda.

Darragh Greene scorched round the tough course to become the 2018 men’s winner in a fast time of 32:46, with former European Championship steeplechaser Tomas Cotter second in 33:31, while Karen Costello was 25th overall and first Over-40 lady to finish when crossing the line in 39:05.

Just behind Costello, in 27th overall, was Graham Townsend in 39:11, 36th was Mark Carroll (39:54) and 51st Paddy O’Mahoney (40:52), while there was another big Dunleer success just behind him as Fran Whelan came home in 40:56 to win the Men’s Junior race.

Other Dunleer finishers included Niall Campbell, Michael Mulligan, Barry McGinn, Donal McEntee, Liam Healy, Nicola Courtney, Ciaran O’Rourke, Helen Cheshire, Denise Gallagher, Sandra O’Rourke, Helen McEntee, Joe Killeen, Edel Bowhan, Iveta Kaugare and Gillian Byrne.
