LOURDES PILGRIMAGE
The Meath Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2018 will take place from September 12th -17th and will be led by Bishop Smith. The fare is €749 for full board and inclusive of insurance and travel taxes (single supplement €180). To book, contact The Presbytery 041-9827384. The first Meath Pilgrimage travelled in 1948 and this year marks 70 years of our Diocese travelling with sick and volunteer helpers to Lourdes. This is also a special year in Lourdes itself, the apparitions of our Lady to St. Bernadette began on 11 February, 1848, 160 years ago.
MRS. PAT FLYNN
Sincere condolences are extended to the Flynn family on the death of Mrs. Pat Flynn Bettystown. She was very well known in golfing circles and was Lady Captain and President of Laytown & Bettystown golf club. She was very well known and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The funeral Mass was held in the Sacred Heart Church Laytown where a very large number of mourners came to pay their respects.
Burial took place in the New Cemetery Sheetland Road Termonfeckin. She will be sadly missed by her sons and daughters, Valerie, Patricia, Jimmy, Frank and Peter, sons in law, daughters in law, her brother Jackie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends. May Pat Flynn rest in peace.
MR. CHARLIE ARMSTRONG
Another great loss in the community with the death of Charlie Armstrong from Brookside. A gentleman and a gentle man who was devoted to his beloved family. He was a member of the Garda and when I was going to school he was the school Garda and was much loved by all the pupils for his easy manner and he had a great way with all the children. The funeral Mass was held in the Sacred Heart Church Laytown with a packed congregation. The burial took place afterwards in Reilig Mhuire cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to his beloved wife Fidelma, daughters Deirdre and Ashling, sons Shane, John and Niall; sisters Jenny, Joan and Kay, grandchildren, extended family and many friends and colleagues. May Charlie Armstrong rest in peace.
ANDREA MCELHINNEY
Sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family of Andrea McElhinney on her sudden and unexpected death. The funeral Mass was held in the Sacred Heart Church Laytown with a huge number of mourners in attendance. The burial in Reilig Mhuire Cemetery, took place immediately after the Mass. She will be sadly missed by her beloved parents Mary & Ray, sister Joanne, her daughter Alice, extended family and friends across the world from Bettystown to Sydney to South Africa and more. Rest in peace Andrea.
MEATH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
This pilgrimage will take place from Sept 12th to Sept 17th and will be led by Bishop Michael Smith. The fare is seven hundred and forty-nine euros (€749) for full board and travel taxes (single supplement one hundred and eighty euros. To book a place contact the presbytery at 041-9827384. The first Meath pilgrimage was in 1948 and this is the seventieth anniversary of the Lourdes pilgrimage. Sick and infirm pilgrims are able to travel with volunteer helpers as has been the case since 1948. This is also a special year in Lourdes as the apparitions of our lady to St Bernadette began on 11th of February 1848.

MAY BUSHES & BLUSHES
I did a survey on May day around local villages to find out the number of may bushes that were present on the day. Port of call was Mornington, Bettystown,Laytown, Donacarney and Colpe.
All that I discovered was four and theywere all in Mornington. Well done Maire Lynch, Rose King and Maura Byrne and I won’t include myself in case people think would think I’m boasting.
ALZHEIMERS GOLF CLASSIC
This classic will take place on Laytown & Bettystown golf course on Friday May 18th.

The Drogheda Alzheimers branch are in the midst of an intensive fund-raising drive to help provide a new day care centre for the town. A full-time sheet will lessen the burden on these very committed people. Please Support.
KNIT & NATTER SUNFLOWER CAFÉ

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES
Application forms are available, in the star of the sea church Mornington, to fill in if one would like to attend the world meeting of families.
One needs to fill in a registration form to get a ticket(s). Tickets are €40 each. This excludes the bus fare. Families can attend the Meath diocesan day on August 22nd (2018); also, the festival of families in Croke Park on August 25th and final Mass in the Phoenix Park on August 26th. Forms are available in the church. Tickets are subject to availability.

Congratulations to Julianstown woman Alma Jordan, founder of the multi-award-winning farm safety educational “AgriKids” who has been accredited with the All-Star Social Entrepreneur for her work in the area of farm safety in the Business All-Stars competition. The Fourth Annual All-Ireland Business Summit powered by Audi, took place in Croke Park where a 1,000 strong audience from all 32 counties were captivated by the speakers who revealed their top secrets, confessions and the do’s and don’ts that have helped them achieve their business success.
MR. COLM COMDT. BROWNE
Sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Colm Browne from Whitecross who passed away last week. He was in his 96th year and was a very well-known and respected member of the community. In his retirement years he was a Director of the East Meath Credit Union where he gave his time and expertise to the Board. He will be sadly missed by his wife Leontia, daughters Helen, Ann and Niamh, his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family and friends. The funeral Mass was held in St. Mary’s Church Julianstown with a large congregation of family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Burial took place to Moorechurch cemetery immediately afterwards. May Mr. Colm Browne rest in peace.
