Yvonne’s blooming for Naomh Mairtin!

-

MOVE over the Rose of Tralee and Lily of the Valley, there’s a new woman in town!

Naomh Mairtin senior ladies team hosted a fundraiser, “The Rose of the Valley” in the Valley Inn on Saturday May 5th and the event was a huge success.

At the end of the night, any Rose could have taken the honours, but it was Yvonne Brennan who took the crown and was named Rose of the Valley 2018. Runner up on the night was Aoife Mulholland with Niamh McNally coming in 3rd place.

‘ The event was a huge success with the function room in the Valley Inn packed to capacity,’ says organiser Anna Clarke. ‘ The ladies brought such a fun rivalry to the competition whilst all the time cheering on and encouraging one another. Damien Lynch was a superb MC whilst Pat Thornton kept the tunes rolling on the DJ decks. The entire team put in huge work in the weeks leading up to the night which was clear in how smoothly the event ran.”

The aim of the event was to raise funds for the senior ladies to purchase new training gear and equipment. The club invited along four judges; local Labour Senator Ged Nash, Bronagh McAvinchey, co-owner of local gin distillery Listoke Gin, Michael McKeown, manager of Louth ladies senior football team and Anne Marie Hamill, local interior designer.

Eight ladies from the senior team took part and eight men joined in as their escorts. The Roses competed against each other in an interview round and a talent round.

‘A huge congratulations to all the ladies and escorts who put on one hell of a show for their supporters on the night,’ concluded Anna.
