Make the King Street car park free to use

-

DISCUSSIONS are ongoing about the parking situation in Drogheda as the bye-laws are being thrashed out.

But one issue that needs to be sorted out is a free car park for workers coming from the northern side of Drogheda, be it Termonfeckin, Togher, etc.

The old fire station was the location for many and it took over 50 cars.

It is being redeveloped at the moment and that’s not an option anymore.

One location that should become free is the car park at King Street.

The Chief Executive of the council stated recently that there were loads of car parking spaces in the centre of Drogheda and she is absolutely correct.

Therefore, there should be no problem in making King Street free to cater for workers, as there are loads of other spaces around the centre of town, as she points out.

The return of the bye-laws in June or July should just not see a return to the old ways with nothing achieved.

Now is the chance for councillors to make a point.
