Pre-University Arts students at Drogheda Institute of Further Education welcomed a very special guest to the college, John Sheahan a member of ‘ The Dubliners’ for over 50 years.

A legendary musician and poet, John delighted and charmed students and staff at the college with his mesmerising musical talent and his captivating poetry. Pre-University Arts students attending DIFE study Folklore and Ethnology and John very kindly agreed to come and speak to them about the significance of traditional Irish music to our cultural heritage. He regaled his audience with stories, music and poetry.

He spoke openly about his childhood in Marino, where he went to school and how he developed a love of music. John concluded with a wonderful rendition of his famous Marino Waltz. It was a day that will forever be remembered by the students at DIFE.
