Rovers cruise to big win over Glens

-

HUNTERSTOWN ROVERS GLEN EMMETS 3-13 0-3

HUNTERSTOWN Rovers had little difficulty in extending their winning sequence as they brushed aside the challenge of Glen Emmets at Tullyallen.

The visitors had all but secured the victory by the time the half time whistle sounded as a brace of goals from Paul Carrie and a third from Brendan Lennon had them in a commanding 15-point lead at the interval.

Despite going into the game with confidence high, Hunterstown were slow to get going and it wasn’t until the tenth minute that they got off the mark with quick-fire points from Ryan Ward and Alan Landy. Paul Carrie then extended the lead with the first goal of the game on 14 minutes before James Butler got the Emmets off the mark.

However, Hunterstown continued to dominate and Carrie’s second goal on 23 minutes was followed by another from Brendan Lennon within 60 seconds as their side took a 3-7 to 0-1 lead into the break.

The visitors were rarely troubled in the second half and although they didn’t add to their goal tally, they stretched the lead with points from Alan Landy, Glen Matthews and Ryan Ward. James Butler responded with two further points for a disappointing Glen Emmets. HUNTERSTOWN: Niall Carrie; Brian Matthews, Richard Taaffe, Martin Lennon; David Finn, Patrick Taaffe, Robert McNiece; Tony McKenna, Ryan Ward 0-2; Eddie Burke, Brendan Lennon 1-1, Conor Matthews; Alan Landy 0-3, Paul Carrie 2-3, Glen Matthews 0-4.
