ST Josephs picked up two valuable points in their home encounter with St Fechins on Friday night.

The Joes settled quickly with points from Oisin McGuinness and Peter Brennan, but the Fechins responded with a Conor Haughney free and the equalising point from Matthew Flanagan on 14 minutes.

The sides exchanged points with a Craig Doherty 20m free for the Joes and a superb long-range effort from Brian Devlin for the Fechins. The Fechins twice took the lead through Karl McDonnell and Niall Devlin only for Oisin McGuinness and Jack Mulligan to level the scores.

However, the Joes grabbed the first goal of the game through McGuinness just before the break to lead by 1-5 to 0-5.

Ten minutes into the second half McGuinness added a second goal to give his side a significant 2-8 to 0-8 lead. The Fechins battled to get back into the game but their hopes were dashed on 47 minutes when Jack Mulligan struck the third goal to seal victory for the Joes.
