KILKERLEY EMMETS ST MOCHTAS 2-14 1-12

KILKERLEY Emmets recorded their fourth successive victory to stay in touch with the leaders but only after being pushed all the way by a gallant St Mochtas team.

In an entertaining match in Louth Village, the visitors got off to the perfect start when Shane Lennon found the net for the first score of the game.

With both teams giving their all, the Mochtas replied with points from Gerry Garland and Eamonn O’Neill before Lennon and Cillian Kampes restored the Emmets advantage.

The home side took a grip of proceedings with points from O’Neill, Garland and Barry Mulholland before Jamie Farrell marked an impressive first outing for the Mochtas with a well-taken goal to put his side 1-6 to 1-4 in front at the break.

The visitors fought back at the start of the second half and scores from Lennon (3) and Daniel McKeown had them leading by 1-9 to 1-8.

O’Neill’s points kept the Mochtas very much in the game entering the closing stages but it was Kilkerley who finished the stronger and a goal from Sean Hand along with points from McKeown and Lennon gave them victory.
