YOUNG IRELANDS JOHN MITCHELS 2-13 0-4

YOUNG Irelands are top of Division 3 on score difference after defeating John Mitchels in Dundalk on Friday evening.

After losing their opening game of the season to Lannleire, the Irelanders have now won five on the bounce and are very much in contention for the title.

Given their impressive recent run of form, the Dundalk side were strongly fancied going into this game and they wasted little time in getting control of proceeding­s. With Dermot Mone and Aidan Sheeky in good scoring form, they had built up a 0-7 to no score lead by the interval.

The Irelanders continued to maintain their strangleho­ld on the game and completed the victory with goals from Dermot Mone and Dean Maguire. The Mitchels pointed through Ben O’Brien, Kevin Gallagher, Diarmuid Durnin and John Gallagher.
