Cushinstown crew bring home plenty of medals
DAY three of the Meath Track & Field Championships on Saturday were all about the hurdles and seven of Cushinstown AC’s top juveniles laid claim to eight county medals and some personal bests.
Sunny Claremont Stadium in Navan was the venue, and after just a few weeks of hurdles training two of the club’s U-12 athletes did themselves very proud in their first competition. In the 60m Kevin Doyle claimed the bronze medal, while in the girls 60m Nia Hetherton had a great run, coming fourth and just missing out on the medals.
In the U-13 60m boys hurdles Lee Callaghan ran brilliantly to win gold, while in the U-13 Girls 60m Aoife Rohan claimed the silver and it was gold for Loclainn Harris in the U-14 75m for boys.
In the U-15 Girls 80m Niamh Quinn claimed the gold, with Amy Callaghan in hot pursuit in the silver-winning position.
Niamh and Amy also competed in and ran brilliantly in the 250m hurdles, with Niamh coming second and Amy third.
