DRUMSHALLON FORGE DANCING

As part of the Boyne Valley Treasure Tours, set dancers from Sandpit and Teach Raithneach attended at Drumshallon Forge and Heritage Centre on Saturday 5th May last to entertain a touring group, taking in such places of interest as 17th century, Beaulieu House, Mainistir Bhuite (Monasterboice) and ending at Drumshallon. Sets danced included a local dance, The Rinkinstown Set (Séit Báile Rincín), and appropriately enough, The Boyne Set. The town-land of Rinkinstown is little better than a stones throw from Drumshallon. The touring visitors were prevailed upon to participate in the well known ceili dance, The Seige of Ennis, and a mighty fist they made of it too. The highlight of the event was no doubt The Brush Dance by Oisín, Páidi and Darragh. Fear an Tí, John Mc Evoy directed proceedings, and Niamh, Fergal, and Eoghan Mc Evoy provided the music. The personnel on duty at Drumshallon on the day were the perfect hosts, providing top class refreshments. Mile buiochas do gach dhuine i Drumshallon, beimid ar ais aris le cunamh De!
