SINGER-SONGWRITER Declan O’Rourke is set to headline a spectacular music event at this year’s Irish Maritime Festival at Drogheda Port.

Collette Farrell, Director of the Droichead Arts Centre, along with her curators Adrian Taaffe and SJ McArdle, announced the line-up for the 2018 Stowaway Sessions, saying people will not want to miss this series of really atmospheric concerts.

“Our first gig is on Friday night, June 15th, on the deck of the magnificent Tall Ship, The Earl of Pembroke, when the Lost Brothers will headline,” explains Adrian.

“This fast-rising folk duo are just finished a sold-out UK and Ireland tour and are receiving rave reviews for their latest album. They will be supported that night by the wonderful singer songwriter Eve Belle.”

“Saturday 16th June sees Declan O’Rourke perform “Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine”, where he will bring an all-star band including Mike McGoldrick and Floriane Blanke,

” This has the makings of an exceptional show. It’ll be amazing to hear this material in the setting of the ship with this band,” continues SJ McArdle.

The special guests that night will be bluegrass powerhouse Pilgrim St.

Collette says the setting, on a tall ship, docked in Drogheda Port at sunset, will make for one of the most special and intimate music gig experiences of all time.

“Tickets are on sale from www.Droichead. com and are priced at €23 each including two drinks. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 15th May but are very limited, just 85 tickets per gig so book early because they won’t be around for long,” she explains.

“All aboard at 7.30pm, support acts from 8.00pm and main act at 8.45pm.”

The Irish Maritime Festival will also feature the acclaimed “Ballast Quay Stage” hosted by Gerry Hodgers of The Purple Sessions.

The stage will feature 24 different live acts over two days from 12-6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Local acts such as Fuzz Gigolo and Declan Garry will be joined by returning favourites Davina Brady and Niall Callan and up and comer Katie Gallagher. The Stowaway Sessions are produced by the Droichead Arts Centre. The events are kindly supported by Dan Kelly Cider, Quintessential Wines and Bru Brewery.

The Irish Maritime Festival is on June 16th & 17th and promises a busy weekend both on and off the water and is always a brilliant event for families, with the action on the historic River Boyne all weekend not to be missed!
