FARMING OUT THE ABORTION PROBLEM TO UK

-

one takes that trip lightly and the fact that we cannot care for these women in our own country saddens me deeply.

“This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our country. We can no longer continue to turn a blind eye. Crisis pregnancies, fatal foetal abnormalities and medically complicated pregnancies are happening around us to family members and friends, and at present we inhumanely farm out our problems to the UK. We have absolute hypocrisy in that the literature a woman receives in a UK clinic is published by the HSE, and yet we cannot support the very same women in Ireland.

“We also listened to my colleague Kate O’Connell TD, who is also a pharmacist and has seen first hand the devastating effect the 8th amendment can have. Deputy O’Connell also debunked many of the untruths seen on the Vote No campaign posters and campaign.”

Fine Gael Councillor for the Ardee, Dolores Minogue who attended the meeting, said: “I want to make sure people understand why I’m voting Yes, I believe in in the beauty and sanctity of life, but above everything I believe in Choice and we must as a nation must finally trust the women of Ireland to make the right decisions for the right reasons.”

Fergus O’Dowd called for a more caring compassionate Ireland that trusts women.
