Fergus O’Dowd called for a more caring compassion­ate Ireland that trusts women

AT a public meeting in Drogheda, Fine Gael TD for Louth and East Meath, Fergus O’Dowd , Councillor Dolores Minogue and Councillor Oliver Tully attended as did many members of the public who listened and asked questions about the upcoming referendum and the reasons to Vote Yes to repeal the Eighth Amendment.

Dr Ross Kelly of Doctors for Choice outlined the difficulti­es for doctors working under the current legal framework. He spoke about how the Eighth Amendment has caused major concerns for the medical profession in caring for pregnant women in Ireland.
