Investigat­ing local stabbing

GARDAI are investigat­ing the circumstan­ces surroundin­g a man who presented himself to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital on Friday May 19th with what appeared to be stab wounds.

The man in his late 40s was treated for several injuries consistent with knife wounds, however, no details were given by the victim on where or when it occurred.

Gardai are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any informatio­n.

In a separate incident, a youth was arrested in the early hours of Saturday May 20th, after he was observed jumping on the bonnet of a car.

The incident took place at Mayoralty Street, Drogheda, at around 12.30am. The juvenile was seen jumping on the front of the car, causing damage to the vehicle. He was brought to Drogheda garda station for questionin­g.

A number of burglaries are also being investigat­ed. Premises in Laurence’s Street were entered illegally sometime overnight last Thursday into Friday. The front door was smashed, and the office ransacked, with a small amount of petty cash stolen.

In another incident, a building on the North Quay was entered through a roof and two offices ransacked, but they escaped empty handed.

Enquiries are still ongoing into an incident that took place in Moneymore estate on Monday May 14th. A man was sitting in a room in the front of the house when a brick was thrown through the window. The window smashed however the man was said to be shocked but not seriously injured.

Finally gardai were called to provide assisance to an ambulance crew at a business premises in West Street, Drogheda, last Friday.

A woman was being treated by the parameducs when she is said to have become abusive.

Gardai attended the incident which passed off peacefully.
