Meade’s support for another term as Cathaoirleach!
‘‘I think I’ll have to run for the chair again for next year!,’ Laytown/Bettystown Cathaoirleach Paddy Meade (pictured) stated after overwhelming support was shown to him at last week’s area council meeting.
The outgoing Cathaoirleach, who leaves the role next month, was the victim of an attempted petrol bomb attack at his home and his fellow councillors rallied to condemn the incident.
Cllr Sharon Keogan said he was a good chair and the attack on him was ‘appalling behaviour’ and she hoped the gardai would get to the bottom of it.
‘You have the deepest sympathy around this table,’ she explained.
Wayne Harding said the attack was ‘disgusting’ and ‘an attack on democracy’. Stephen McKee said he was an ‘excellent chairman’ and ‘very fair to everyone’. He too condemned the attack on him as ‘shocking’.
