Izmoo Gelataria opens its doors to Drogheda

-

MOOVE over, there’s a new ice-cream parlour in town, and it’s causing quite a stir with exciting new flavours!

Izmoo Gelataria in Laurence Street, Drogheda, is the brainchild of Orla Stafford, whose grandfather Jim founded the family business next door exactly 40 years ago.

Today, the glass fronted shop is causing a sensation in town since it opened its swanky new window earlier in 2018.

“This was all Orla’s idea, as she has a passion for ice-cream, and has so many ideas for flavours,” says her Dad Joe, who took over his father’s business.

“When she was in Transition Year, she went to Italy to see how it’s done and learn how to make the finest gelato, so we have her to thank for it all.”

All the ice cream is made on the premises, so it is the freshest it can be.

But it also means they family can have some fun with flavours. “Last week, she launched the Guinness and Walnut Bread flavour, like I stock in the shop, and it went down a storm with the customers,’ he says.

“You name it, we can make it, and along with all the usual popular types, we are experimenting with different combinations, including Gin and Tonic to be launched soon.”

Even the impressive electric front window came from Italy!

“It’s the only one in Ireland, and is a big selling point, “ adds Joe,

“People are coming in now getting vouchers for birthday, communion or confirmation presents, and Orla’s constantly changing the flavours to keep customers coming back for more.”
