Sr Gabriel Fay was musician

THE death took place on Saturday at the Convent of Mercy, Drogheda of Sister M. Gabriel Fay, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Fay, Peter Street, Drogheda.

Deceased was educated at the same convent at which she had spent almost her entire life. She entered the convent in 1896 and was professed a Sister of Mercy in 1899.

The late Sister Fay was a most devout member of the Order. Her main Interest in the educationa­l line was mistress of music in the Sacred Heart School, conducted by the Mercy Order in Drogheda.

She was recognised as an exceedingl­y competent teacher of music and will be long remembered by more than one generation of people from the town and district who enjoyed the benefit of her talents In this direction.

Widespread sympathy has been extended to the Community of the Convent of Mercy, as well as to her brother, Mr. Thomas Fay, the wellknown Drogheda business man. and to her other relatives in their bereavemen­t.

Solemn Office and Requiem Mass was offered for the repose of her soul In St. Mary’s Church, Drogheda, on Monday, and was attended by a very large congregati­on, including pupils of the school.
