CELEBRATIONS FOR TONY.
Former Principal of Tenure school, Tony Callery, recently celebrated his 70th birthday. Tony is a member of Drumshallon writers group, which, incidently, is going from strength to strength . The group meet every Thursday in Drumshallon with Tony as it’s resident poet.
Tony looks at the meaning of life in his poems so it was no surprise when he produced one, on the morning of his 70th birthday on Thursday, 3rd May and below is a little ditty penned by Tony called “memories to treasure” Memories to treasure Seventeen cards through the letterbox fell
Congratulations, good health, wishing me well,
Vouchers for woodies, McKenna man and more,
Theatres, restaurants , and concerts galore.
The parties went on for a week and a bit.
Yummy cakes were produced, many candles were lit.
Music and laughter, we gave it socks.
My seventieth birthday ticked every box.
But the best present of all stands out on its own
The two brave Aussies made the long journey home.
Eimear and Cathal, jet-lagged and cold
Arrived among us, the moment was gold.
My seventieth birthday was the best I’ve ever spent.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Seisiúin na nÓg (Traditional music session for young people) - Second Sunday of each month; 14.00 to 15.30 - Drumshallon Forge Heritage Ctr.
These sessions are geared towards younger traditional musicians (ages 7 to 17) who can play some tunes, and would like an opportunity to play music in a fun and relaxed, family-friendly environment.
Sessions are hosted by a family of three local musicians Áine, Bríd & Mick Dunne and are free of charge.
