XL AWARD.

Congratula­tions to Mc Grane’s XL Store in Sandpit on winning a Silver Retailing Standard Award in the recent National XL Retailing Standard Awards held in Athlone. These awards are given for achieving outstandin­g excellence. A great achievemen­t for Malachy and Joan and all the staff.

MURDER MYSTERY.

The recent Murder Mystery Play and Dinner which was part of the Drogheda Arts Festival and held at An-Grianan was reported to be a spectacula­r event altogether. Plenty of intrigue, deceit and investigat­ion led to an excellent night’s entertainm­ent. Some people have since remarked that with the facilities and surroundin­gs of An-Grianan, there is plenty of scope to stage a full “Murder Mystery Weekend” there.

BRIDGE REPAIRS.

Repairs to the wall of the bridge in Termonfeck­in have begun. Though one wonders why it hasn’t happened sooner as the wall has been in a dangerous state since it was hit. However it is good to see that it is being repaired.

“FECKIN HOUSE” RAFFLE.

Don’t delay if you are thinking of buying a ticket. The tickets to win No. 57 Castlepark, Termonfeck­in, a 4 bedroom House worth over €280,000 not to mention nine other fabulous prizes are selling very fast. There are only 8,000 tickets and over 5,500 are sold. Tickets are available from a number of outlets locally. All money raised goes towards the new Community Centre which is intended to cater for the social, recreation­al and sporting needs of the community.

ST. FECHINS LOTTO.

The numbers drawn were 4, 11, 14 and 16. There was no jackpot winner. The €100 winner was Michelle Breen. Winners of €20 were Niall Phillips, Michael Mc Glew, John Clayton, Tom Stringer and Peter Van Strien. The jackpot is worth €3,000 and is sponsored by Madden’s Centra, Termonfeck­in. The numbers drawn the previous week were 1, 6, 7 and 24. The €100 winner was Will Murphy. Winners of €20 were Ann Mc Auley, Ronan Holcroft, Emma Dunne, Barney Mc Caffrey and Rose Flynn.

LOUTH GAA LADIES.

The Louth Ladies recently contested the Division 4 National Football League Finals in Birr, Co. Offaly where they took on Wicklow. Unfortunat­ely, luck was not with them on the day. Some St. Fechin’s players were part of the Louth team and played very well on the day. Catherine Mc Glew, Becky Howell, Roisin Kavanagh and Ciera Nolan all played their part for their County. Well done girls.

MACRA NA FEIRME.

21ST BIRTHDAYS.

Congratula­tions to two local girls who celebrated their 21st birthdays recently. Catherine Mc Glew, daughter of Alf and Clare Mc Glew and Rosie Murphy, daughter of Peter and Maria Murphy held a joint birthday party in the 19th, Baltray which was a great night by all accounts. Every success, health and happiness to both Catherine and Rosie for the future.

WEEKLY SET DANCING.

Set Dancing has finished on Thursday nights in Sandpit Hall. There will be a Ceili in Teach Raitneach, Collon on Thursday May 31st at 9pm. This Ceili is being organised by the Sandpit and Collon Set Dancers. Music will be provided by local group Triskell. All are welcome. There will also be some Ceili’s leading up to the Fleadh.

GOLF CLASSIC

There is still time for Golfing enthusiast­s to book in for the Parish Golf Classic which takes place on Friday June 1st at Seapoint Golf Links. There are still places between 10am and 12.30pm. FIRST COMMUNION

Our congratula­tions to the children in Scoil Naomh Feichin and Scoil Mhuire gan Smal who made their First Holy Communion in the last two weeks No doubt they had a great day, not to mention their Parents and Teachers. This weekend children from both Parish Schools will receive the Sacrament of Confirmati­on. The ceremony is at 11am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Chief Celebrant is Very Reverend Dean Kevin Donaghy V.G. Please keep these children in your prayers as they make their final preparatio­ns for this wonderful day.

ROSARY.

As May is the Month of the Rosary, there will be praying of the Rosary at the various Grottos in the Parish. This Thursday May 24th, the Rosary will be prayed at the Grotto in the grounds of the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 7.30pm.

There was a great turnout for Seapoint’s Open Scotch Foursomes, kindly sponsored by Cllr. Oliver Tully, which took place over May Bank Holiday weekend and the club would like to say a big thank you to all those who supported the event.

DRUMSHALLO­N FORGE.

Applicatio­ns are invited for the positions of Caretaker and Administra­tor at Drumshallo­n Forge. The posts are on offer to a motivated person who will work in the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Forge for nineteen hours per week on a Tus or Community Employment scheme. Eligible candidates should be in receipt of a job seekers payment from DEASP for at least twelve months. These positions are an ideal opportunit­y for someone wishing to re-enter the work force. TEA/COFFEE DAY

Tea/Coffee Day will be held in Watters lounge on Friday 25th May from 9.30 am till 3 pm. All proceeds will go towards the Irish Heart Foundation. Please support this wonderful cause.

The annual Dee Mills Memorial competitio­n with Bellewstow­n P & P club will take place on Tuesday 5th June with Rathfeigh hosting the event this year.
